WINDOWS 7 USERS: If your CAC looks like either of the 2 below: "Gemalto TOP DL GX4 144" or "Oberthur ID One 128 v5.5 Dual", you "may" be able to use your CAC without having to install ActivClient.
1. If you only want to use your CAC to logon to CAC enabled sites (and not complete or digitally sign forms with Lotus Forms and ApproveIt), you may want to consider using LPS (Lightweight Portable Security)
Learn how to use LPS to download ActivClient with your CAC on your computer
2. Download and use an Open-Source program called OpenSC on your Windows computer. You can download the 32 bit version or the the 64 bit version. This program will also work with Firefox.

ActivClient 6.1 (32bit)
from AFRICOM, click CAC Reader Software
4. Download ActivClient 6.2 (same file includes 32 & 64 bit) from marines.mil (No CAC needed) You may still need to update it.
5. Download Coolkey (Select the Download link next to: Coolkey for Windows Built 10-30-2010). NOTE: I have NOT tested this option, it was sent to me as a great alternative to ActivClient. So, if you want to try it, please let me know how it worked for you.
You may purchase ActivClient 6.2 (Works with Windows 7, Vista, & XP)
If you are unsure whether you have a 32 or 64 bit version of Windows, here is how to find out:
Windows 7 & Vista, Right click Computer, select Properties. Under System, System type you will see 32 or 64-bit.XP, Right click My Computer, select Properties. If it doesn't say 64 bit, you have a 32 bit Operating System.
